Post-Publication Discussion

JPK : Jurnal Penelitian Kesehatan welcomes scholarly discussion of published articles. Post-publication discussion helps correct the record, improve understanding, and support the integrity of health research.

Ways to comment on a published article

  1. Letter to the Editor. Readers may submit a letter commenting on, questioning, or criticising an article published in JPK, preferably within 12 months of its publication. Letters should be no longer than 800 words and 10 references, must refer to the article by title and DOI, and are submitted through the online submission system under the section "Letter to the Editor" or by email to [email protected].
  2. Direct communication with the editor. Readers who find possible errors, ethical problems, or data issues may contact the Editor-in-Chief by email. These concerns are handled as described in the Research Misconduct Policy.
  3. External platforms. The journal also monitors comments about its articles on post-publication review platforms such as PubPeer and will respond to substantive concerns raised there.

Handling of letters

  • The editor assesses each letter for relevance, scientific merit, and respectful tone. Letters containing personal attacks or defamatory content are not accepted.
  • Letters may be sent for review.
  • If a letter is accepted, the authors of the original article are invited to write a reply. The letter and the reply are published together when possible, each with its own DOI, and linked to the original article.
  • If the authors do not reply within the deadline set by the editor, the letter may be published without a reply.

Outcomes

If a discussion reveals an error or a serious problem, the journal may publish a correction, an expression of concern, or a retraction, as set out in the Correction & Retraction Policy.

Complaints and appeals

Authors who disagree with an editorial decision may submit an appeal to the Editor-in-Chief within 30 days, explaining their reasons. The appeal is reviewed by an editor who was not involved in the original decision, and the decision on the appeal is final. Complaints about the journal's processes or staff can be sent to the same address and are handled following COPE guidance.
